Hi,
Due to some recent posts about using Wii motion plus sensors ( http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wiimote/Extension_Controllers ) I got enough motivation to buy one from DealExtreme for 15.03$. I received them some days ago. Opened them and noticed it is not using the IDG600 (X&Y) and Epson (Z) gyros anymore, but it uses IDG650 (X&Y) and ISZ650 (Z). 650 series are made for 2000 Deg/Sec. with all of the good features of the 500 series. They only lack the internal temperature compensation, but this is made possible to be done through the integrated temperature sensor externally. The Wii MotionPlus board gives out data theough an I2C interface and includes the ADC conversion onboard reducing the load on the CPU.
Look here for the latest development of the quadrotors in ETH Zurich :
They can do singe, dual, triple flips and are using Invensense 650 series. This is not to say just by switching from IDG500 to IDG650 we can reach such results. This rather tells that 650 series are good too and finding hem at such a low price is gonna make the price of a quadrotor to come down to a great deal.

I agree about the difference between the official venison and the one from DX. What is important over here is that I read so many people have ordered sensors from DX to hack. I recall most people have been reporting to find IDG500(X&Y) + Epson(Z) gyros inside. I must take another look at the pictures posted on the links below (Which I read before ordering a Wii MotionPlus) to find out the truth :
